We are deeply grateful to everyone who has already contributed to the Norton Road Property Acquisition Fund. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have raised 80% of the $2.8 million purchase price — an extraordinary milestone that reflects the care, commitment, and shared belief that safe, affordable housing matters on Salt Spring Island.
This project represents more than a property purchase. The Norton Road site will allow IWAV to expand affordable housing and our services to support women and children affected by violence — creating long-term stability, safety, and dignity for those who need it most.
A major step forward came with a landmark $540,000 donation from the Salt Spring Community Housing and Land Trust Society. This contribution reflects their confidence in IWAV’s experience and capacity to plan and bring another affordable housing project to completion. In light of the incredible support shown by our community, IWAV’s Board has voted to remove the purchase conditions and move forward with the acquisition.
We now have $525,000 left to raise to complete the purchase. The closing date has been extended to February 12, 2026, giving us time to meet our goal.
