Summary
The Thrift Store Worker performs a wide variety of duties under the direction of the Thrift Store Manager to ensure an effective and profitable operation of the store. The worker is responsible for providing prompt, courteous and knowledgeable retail service to clients and customers. Duties include preparing products for sale, maintaining product displays, assisting customers with purchases and processes transactions.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
- High School/Grade 12 education
- Minimum one year of recent related experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

The Transition House Worker’s role is to provide support, security, advocacy, information, education, crisis intervention and referrals to residents and crisis line callers, which includes a range of practical and emotional support services to women and their children.

Temporary Sexual Assault Response Counsellor Internal/External Job Posting
Position: Sexual Assault Response Counsellor, Part-time
Hours of Work: 16 hrs/week, temporary until January 9, 2025, or until return of incumbent

Responsible to: Program Manager
Classification: Adult, Youth and/or Child Counsellor
Grid Level: JJEP Wage Grid 14, Paraprofessional $38.68/hour
Under the direction and supervision of the Program Manager, the Sexual Assault Counsellor will provide ongoing counselling support to sexual assault survivors who are 13 years of age or older. This program will be for adult women (inclusive of cis, non-binary and trans women) and youth of all genders. This service will respond to both recent and past sexual assault.
The counsellor will work from a trauma-informed and client-centred perspective with survivors of sexual assault. The counsellor will assess client’s needs and develop and implement counselling plans using a variety of therapeutic counselling techniques. The counsellor will be responsible for case management of clients and will work with individuals and small groups. The counsellor will provide clients with skill building practices.
These services are available to eligible clients from the Southern Gulf Islands (Salt Spring, Pender, Mayne, Galiano and Saturna Islands). This position requires union membership.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related human/social services
- Sound knowledge and understanding in gender-based violence and impacts of sexual assault
- Training and experience in crisis management and trauma informed practice
- Minimum 2 years of recent related experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Registered membership with one of the following professional associations: Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, BC Psychological Association
- Experience or training in: counselling survivors of sexual assault, trauma-informed practice; and Indigenous cultural safety

Under the direction and supervision of the Program Manager, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) plans and oversees the day-to-day activities of the Sexual Assault Response Program (SARP) at IWAV. This program provides a timely and cohesive response for survivors of sexual assault for all genders ages 13 and older.
The SARC will provide direct support services, emotional support, practical assistance, and referrals to clients who have experienced sexual assault. The Sexual Assault Response Coordinator will engage in public education about how to respond to sexual assault, advocate for survivors, train and oversee volunteers. Public education may include coordination of community events and promotion of IWAV’s services.
As well, the SARC will cooperate and coordinate with other service providers to ensure effective service delivery. These services are available to eligible clients from the Southern Gulf Islands (Salt Spring, Pender, Mayne, Galiano and Saturna). The SARC will participate in the rotation of on call duties.
This position requires union membership.
