The PEACE program has been developed to:
- Address the needs of children and youth aged 3 to 18 years who have been exposed to violence and abuse in their family homes
- Help parents understand how violence and abuse affects their children
- Raise community awareness through violence prevention education
- Let children and youths know they’re not alone or at fault
- Provide a safe place to talk about feelings
- Teach problem-solving and coping skills
- Help end cycles of violent or aggressive behaviour
- Teach personal safety
- Teach healthy ways to express feelings such as anger, hurt or sadness
- Identify causes and effects of violence and abuse
- Look at common myths about violence and abuse
