As we head into the holidays, we want to pause and say thank you to our incredible community.
The tree you see here represents the growing circle of supporters behind the Norton Road Property Acquisition Fund. Every name — on the branches, in the trunk, and in the roots — reflects a shared belief that safe, affordable housing matters on Salt Spring Island.
Thanks to you — Islanders, families, newcomers, and supporters from near and far — we have now raised over 80% of the $2.8 million purchase price for the Norton Road property. This extraordinary milestone has been made possible by:
- Our foundational supporters — the Salt Spring Community Housing & Land Trust Society, Salt Spring Island Foundation, and Country Grocer — whose leadership made it possible for our Board to remove conditions on the sale and move forward with confidence.
- Our philanthropic partners and foundations, who bring momentum and belief to this project.
- More than 85 individual donors — the roots of this community — whose generosity holds everything up and shows trust in IWAV and in what we can build together.

We now have $525,000 left to raise to complete the purchase. The closing date has been extended to February 12, 2026, giving us time to meet our goal.
If you’ve already donated — thank you. You’ve brought us this far.
If you’re able to give again, or are considering joining for the first time, now is a powerful moment.
There’s room on this tree — and in this community of supporters — for you.
Together, we can secure Norton Road and take another step toward a future where people on Salt Spring Island can live free from poverty, violence, and abuse.
