Youths have until August 15th to join the first cycle of video projects. This project aims to engage youths in producing educational videos for their peers on the topics of sexual assault and sexualized violence, how to recognize it, how to respond appropriately, what resources are available and how to access them.
Who’s this project for? Storytellers, writers, researchers, filmmakers, visual artists and performance artists aged 13 to 19, all genders. They’ll be passionate about being involved in social change, who want their activist voices heard and who are artists with a creative vision!
The Youth Project Series will focus on three themed projects:
- First Project theme is SAFETY. This project runs from now until September 30, 2024.
- Second Project theme is SURVIVAL. This project runs from October 1 to December 15, 2024.
- Third Project theme is SOLIDARITY. This project runs from January 5 to March 15, 2025.
If this project excites you, let’s connect! Email us to register and schedule an introductory meeting. Once recruitment is complete, we will meet weekly to establish our connection and trust as a team, brainstorm about the project themes and start the process of creating our videos.
Credit: After each project is complete, we will host a community screening and discussion panel to share your work and voices. Participation is optional.
Compensation: We will produce up to three short 2-minute videos for each project. You will receive $50 honoraria for each video you participate in. You may choose to participate in one, two or all three projects (receiving up to $150 in honoraria).
Safety: This project addresses difficult topics. It may trigger people who have experienced and/or witnessed sexual assault and violence. Safety is of the utmost importance. Our project coordinators are professional, trauma-informed and experienced youth workers. We have a counsellor on our leadership team to support youth at difficult times during the project. We will also connect youth to the appropriate community resources should they need extra support.
We are so excited to meet you and bring this project to life!
