Over the past few months, our community has come together in an extraordinary way to support the Norton Road Acquisition Fund. The generosity shown by islanders has been inspiring, and we are deeply grateful for the commitment people have shown toward creating more affordable housing on Salt Spring Island.
At the same time, much of this generosity has understandably been focused on that campaign. As a result, donations that typically support the day-to-day work of Islanders Working Against Violence (IWAV) have slowed. These ongoing funds are what allow us to provide the essential services our community relies on — including counselling, advocacy, crisis response, and prevention programs for women and children experiencing violence.
To help bridge that gap, IWAV has launched our first Community Raffle, and there is still a short window of time to participate.
Tickets are $10 each and available until March 27 at 4:00 PM, with the draw taking place on March 31.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and community members, the raffle features a wonderful selection of locally donated prizes:
- A Gift Basket (value $250) from Salt Spring Mercantile
- A Spring Bouquet Punch Card (value $175) from Bullock Lake Farm
- Six Iyengar Yoga Classes (value $120) with Jayne Lloyd Jones
- A $100 Gift Card to Rock Salt Restaurant & Cafe
- A $100 Gift Card to Tru Love Pizza
- A $50 Gift Card to Love’s Galettes
Every ticket purchased helps sustain the programs and services that support safety, healing, and prevention across our community.
Tickets can be purchased in person at Transitions Thrift Store, or by contacting IWAV at info@iwav.org.
If you have already supported IWAV through the raffle or other donations this year, thank you. Community support is what allows this work to continue.
If you have been meaning to buy a ticket, now is the time — sales close March 27 at 4:00 PM.
Buy a ticket. Win something wonderful. Help someone find safety. 💜
