Now Hiring: PEACE Counsellor (Temporary, Part-Time)

Join our Anti-Violence team at IWAV!

Do you have experience supporting children and youth and a strong understanding of gender-based violence? IWAV is looking for a PEACE Counsellor to support children (ages 3–18) and their caregivers across Salt Spring Island and the Southern Gulf Islands.

The PEACE Program (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling, and Empowerment) supports children and youth who have been impacted by domestic and gender-based violence. In this role, you’ll provide individual and group counselling, help children and youth process their experiences, and support caregivers in understanding and responding to the impacts of violence.

🕊️ 20 hours/week (part-time)
📅 Start: immediately
⏳ Temporary to June 12, 2026 (or return of incumbent)
🤝 Supportive, collaborative team
💲 $38.49/hour

We’re looking for someone who:
• Has a degree in a related human/social services field (or equivalent experience)
• Brings experience working with children and youth
• Understands intimate partner and gender-based violence
• Has strong counselling and group facilitation skills
• Works with a compassionate, client-centered approach
• Communicates well and collaborates effectively with others

IWAV provides practical and emotional support to people impacted by violence and abuse and operates a range of housing options, from emergency transitional housing to long-term affordable housing. Our team of nearly 40 staff provide safe, inclusive, and confidential services to the community.

Now Hiring: Summer Youth Retail Marketing Coordinator (2 Positions) – Transitions Thrift Store

IWAV is hiring two Summer Student Marketing Coordinators to join the team at the Transitions Thrift Store.

These positions are ideal for youth interested in communications, social media, retail, fundraising, community engagement, and nonprofit work. Students will support the operations of the Thrift Store while helping develop creative ideas to increase community engagement and store sales in support of IWAV’s anti-violence programs.

All proceeds from the Transitions Thrift Store support IWAV programs and services on Salt Spring Island and the Southern Gulf Islands.

Position Details:

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Processing, sorting, and displaying donated merchandise
  • Assisting with social media and promotions
  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Supporting cash and sales transactions
  • Maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment
  • Sharing information about IWAV services with the public
  • Participating in staff meetings and training
  • Helping develop community engagement and fundraising initiatives such as themed promotions, events, or online auctions

We’re Looking For Students Who Are:

As the Manager of IWAV’s Transitions Thrift Store, you’ll oversee a thriving social enterprise, foster an inviting space for customers, lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, and support fundraising events. Every purchase and donation helps fund IWAV’s free programs and services, making a direct difference in the lives of people experiencing violence and abuse across the Southern Gulf Islands.
