This year, IWAV and The Circle hosted our annual vigil on a Facebook Livestream. We were not able to gather in community this year to light candles and remember the women who were killed in the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre. In addition, IWAV and the Circle members read the names of the women who died in 2020 by domestic homicide in our country.
We also remember the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls and members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ communities that are at increased risk of violence due to systemic oppression. This is the reality for so many and continues to be a real threat to the survival and well-being of women and children across the nation.
