Gardeners, did you know that IWAV now sells seeds?
Our “Grow For It” program produces seeds for sale to provide funding for food security projects for our residents in our second-stage housing. If you’re dreaming about a gardening project this year, be sure to check out our seeds at the Transition Thrift Store. (Next to Salt Spring Coffee in back parking lot.)
We have bean, lettuce, squash, tomato, calendula and pea seeds for sale. Come down to the store on Thursday, March 30th, between 1pm and 4pm, and receive a free package of snap peas for every four seed packages bought. All seeds are grown using organic practices and are hand-selected for quality. Please swipe to see some examples of what seeds we are offering!

Pacific Beauty Mix Calendula
Edible and medicinal semi-double flowers that grow to 24 inches tall. Beautiful range of apricot, cream, gold and yellow flowers. Approx. 0.5 gr/ 100 seeds in a package.
Buttercrunch Lettuce
Slow to bolt bibb lettuce with a sweet and crunchy texture. Buttercrunch produces compact dark green heads. 46 days to maturity. Contains ½ teaspoon of seeds in a package.
German Striped Tomato
This hierloom tomato produces large juicy tomatoes that have a beautiful marbled red and yellow colour. They hold their shape well for slicing and have an excellent fruity flavour. Indeterminate type. 78 days to maturity. Approx. 25 seeds in a package.
Tigers Eye Bush Bean
Tigers Eye is a very versatile heirloom bush bean that has a smooth texture and rich flavour. These beautiful beans have a season of 80-90 days and dry quickly on the plants making them useful for shorter seasons. Great for chilis or refried beans. Approx. 35 Seeds in a package.
Sugar Snap Pea
Crisp, sweet pods that be cooked or eaten raw as a snack. These peas need to be trellised and will grow up to 2 meters tall with proper support. 58 days to maturity. Approx. 70 seeds per package.
